The Riding / Downhill

Downhill

We offer Downhilling on several world-class man-made DH courses PLUS 100's Km of hidden technical backcountry trails. All directly lift-Accessed. Zero pushing or pedalling required! The variety and superb access of terrain in Les Arcs makes "mainstream" downhiller destinations such as the Portes Du Soleil begin to look very repetitive indeed!

Man-Made Stuff
For the seasoned adrenaline junkie in search of steep drop-ins, big air-time and the buzz of taking man-made berms at full pace, Les Arcs will not disappoint... it is indeed the home turf and training ground of a number of top french downhillers.

For starters, the village of Arc 1600 is home to the Cachette Downhill course used as the Sprint Avalanche race track. This is a highway of fast turns, big berms, tabletops, fly-offs and several wooded technical sections! Secondly, just outside Arc 1600 lies the start of the acclaimed Black 8 descent, a course which just begs you to go faster, ducking and diving quickly down 800 vertical metres to the valley floor. With the possibility to either test your speed on the main run or to veer off track onto some cheeky new man-made alternatives (steeper sections, drops, kickers), the Black 8 is a firm favourite amongst downhillers of all ability levels.

Natural Terrain for "6-inch travel and more" bikes
In addition to the man-made terrain, there is a huge amount of lift-accessed natural sweet singletrack terrain on which your big rig will feel right at home... let us dispell one myth right now: singletrack does NOT necessarily mean XC riding and uphilling, at least not in Les Arcs! With one of the main lifts running directly out of Peisey Village (home of trailAddiction HQ), you needn't worry about pushing or pedalling to the tops of the trails. Thanks to the squat conical shape of the les Arcs mountain these singletrack trails are upwards of 10km long and involve NO CLIMBING whatsoever! What's more, some of the singletrack is quite severe, simulating some of the harder stunts that appear on man-made courses. As such, these trails are perfect for testing any downhiller to the limit.
