Epic Downhill DH Crosscountry XC Mountain Biking Holidays in Les Arcs in the heart of the French Alps trailAddiction

trailAddiction Spain: Granada ROCKS!

New for 2008 - trailAddiction Spain. The singletrack mountain biking adventure taken to a whole new level!

We're absolutely delighted to offer, on a very limited basis, a whole new trailAddiction experience starting summer 2008 - trailAddiction Spain: Granada. It's been 3 years in the making, but we're now ready to show you a whole NEW world of awesome riding that we know will be right up your street. The location is centred around the ski village of Sierra Nevada, in the spectacular mountain range of the same name, towering above the historic city of Granada. Most of you will know that there are countless other operators that have been around that region for some time......but nearly all of them are concentrated on the southern side of the region in the Alpujarras, which is in fact a totally different valley. Be assured that trailAddiction has been, and always will be, about pioneering NEW trails - and that is exactly what we have for you here, too.
These trails are epic. Awesome. Huge. OK. Lets talk statistics. You can pick up singletrack as high as 3350m, and carry on unbroken (if you know where you are going) right on down to Granada town - about 30 Km away and at 850m altitude. Yes, you read correctly - thats 2.5 vertical Km drop - and 100% sweet, flowing, technical singletrack as far as the eye can see. Whilst not as densely packed as Les Arcs, the terrain is vast, and more easily accessible - therefore you travel further in less time, and the options for singletrack in total are just as great.

Trails Above Granada

These trails have been around for centuries - and are still used today by goat herders and the odd walker....but in general, the place is just miles and miles of dry, smooth, twisty and swooping singletrack mixed with technical rocky sections now and again to keep you on your toes.

Spain Riverbed DH

There are ski lifts running in the summer months, but the area we ride is so vast it runs way outside of the lift system. Gradients tend to be shallower than in Les Arcs - more fast-grin-inducing rollercoaster style riding than mega-steep-on-the-brakes-the-whole-way-down stuff you can find in Les Arcs. That's not to say these trails are boring or easy - far, far from it.

Uplifts are mainly acheived by vans and trailers (there's a fast, major road running right up the mountainside) although this trailAddiction experience requires a bit more committment to self-propulsion than that of Les Arcs. More like 20-30% up, 70-80% down - (proper "backcountry" style). Every day out here is a real epic, and the scale of the terrain is mind-boggling.

The climate is superb, and in September/October its almost guaranteed to be super-sunny and hot all day, every day.

We've arranged accommodation in a superb hotel that has a swimming pool, bar, lounge, ensuite rooms - the high standard you would expect from trailAddiction. Eating out in the area is very cheap, and you can get a real feast in the hotel restaurant for under a tenner including drinks (under five pounds if you want to eat well, but are on budget). Note that because of this, trailAddiction Spain package does not include catering, although the total overall price assuming eating in the hotel every night, is equivalent to a catered week in Les Arcs (but the beer costs a lot less, and there's no need for a lift pass!)

An added bonus of a week with us at trailAddiction Espaņa is the apres-biking. Nightlife in Granada is frankly amazing. A huge town with a large student population and a popular holiday destination, every night out in Granada is a busy one. Hundreds of tapas bars await you, and the friendly locals are always up for partying through 'til the early hours with you, if you have any energy left after the day's riding. There's a great southern-mediterranian feel to the region, and you can even see the Atlas mountains in Africa on a clear day.

In summary, we wouldn't be offering this as a second location unless we were truly confident that it was as good as what we have in Les Arcs - and that really is saying quite a lot.
